Oil Barons Ball Guests Will Walk the Red Carpet

“The Atwood Lake Resort staff will literally “roll out the red carpet” for those attending Carroll County Arts’ fund raising event, The Oil Barons Ball, on Saturday, April 13,” according to John Logsdon, Regional Director of Operation for Radius Hospitality.

“The Oil Barons Ball will be a grand event,” Logsdon says.  “We are looking forward to showing the community all that we are capable of doing—we want everyone to recognize Atwood Resort as the premier special-occasion facility in Carroll County.  We also want to help Carroll County Arts establish an annual fund raising event that provides the support they need for art programs.”

“Guests will be greeted by both a red carpet and valet parking,” he reports.  “Patrons and program sponsors will be honored at a pre-dinner party with wine and a variety of hors d’oeuvres.  One of our purveyors has even generously donated wine for each dinner table,” Logsdon says.

Atwood’s Executive Chef, Matthew Smith, will be preparing the dinner with his entire team from the Resort. “All guests will be served a multi-course dinner that will include an appetizer and specialty salad.  For an entrée, guest will be able to select a choice of our Signature Prime Rib, Chicken Marsala or Pasta Primavera.  Our pastry chef is working with the committee now to select a scrumptious dessert,” Smith says.

As for decorations, Therese Cook, cochairman of the Oil Barons Ball reports, “We are working with Nevada Leggett to decorate the ballroom.  Nevada has beautiful decorations for special occasions and she is providing elegant chair covers as well as romantic candelabras for the evening.  The synergy of great food, the beautiful music of the Jack Halkides Quintet and the spectacular decorations will make the Oil Barons Ball a night to remember.”

“Several Carroll County Arts sponsors will be honored at the event,” says Syndy Willen, president of the group and cochairman of the Ball.  The honorees currently include:  Chesapeake Energy for the company’s $10,000 Program and Facility Sponsorship; Dale and Ina Gallaher for Children’s Art Programs; Ken &Colleen Joseph for Student Art Show; Grady Rentals for Student Scholarships;  Kelchner for the Choral Christmas Concert;  William & Barbara Martin for Student Scholarships; Richard & Judy Miller for Student Scholarships;  Pissocra-Mathias Realty for Student Scholarships; Bob and Carol Walter for Student Scholarships; and Wendy’s for general fund/operations.”

“The evening will also provide a great opportunity for guests who like to participate in bidding on unique items,” says Willen. “Each day we are receiving wonderful new donations for our silent and live auctions – fabulous jewelry, a spa package, use of a car, a Kindle Fire, overnight hotel stays, ticket packages and much, much more.  John Rutledge is posting auction items on the Carroll County Arts website here.  The items are being updated almost daily. Those who cannot attend the Ball, will be able to place bids at the Arts Center on Thursday, April 11 from 12 noon to 6 p.m. by stopping in or calling 330-627-3739.

The Ball will also feature entries to the community art show and contest, “Rig it Up.”  Entries will depict the oil and gas industry in Carroll County.  Those attending the Ball will be able to view the art and cast a ballot for the People’s Choice Award.  The deadline for art entries is April 6, 2013.  Information about the entry rules, prizes and criteria is available from the Carroll County Arts Center.

Tickets for the event and sponsorships are still available.  Tickets for dinner, dancing and the auctions are $75 per person.  Patron tickets that also include the pre-dinner wine and hors d’oeuvres are $125 per person.  All proceeds will be used to support the exhibits, concerts, classes and other programs of Carroll County Arts.  A portion of each ticket is income tax deductible.
