Artist of the Month - Helen Lewis

Carroll County Arts presents Helen Lewis of Carrollton as our featured artist for May. Helen and her husband, Brad, live in Carrollton and are the owners of Paperworks and More and E. L. Lewis, Inc., an advertising-related company. Helen has a B.A. in Communications and English from the University of Mount Union.

Helen concentrates her art and design work in the areas of mixed media, collage, encaustic and calligraphy. By combining her own lettering and painting, she creates one-of-a-kind pieces that engage the viewer with their messages and imagery. Also to be included in the exhibit is a series of encaustic painting and collages on salvaged wood, antique frames and vintage copper printing plates, as well as some small soldered works under glass.

Helen has exhibited in area galleries, participated in juried shows, and through her company, Illuminating Words, she has sold her art in several retail stores. She also works on commissioned pieces for individuals, incorporating their favorite quotes or family photos into her work. A reception for the artist will be May 19th at the Arts Center from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. This is open to the public and admission is free.
